PERSONAL INTERESTS: CHILD DEVELOPMENT, HEALTH, THE AFRICAN PEOPLE
Born in Fairmont N.C. during Jim Crow and segregation, I witnessed and lived through abhorrent living conditions and few human rights for people of color. By the age of 6, I was behind the mule and plow, cropping tobacco, cotton, corn etc. By the age of 12 I could hold a one hundred pound sack in each arm at the same time straight out from my
shoulders. By age 13, I had had enough and hitched a ride in a tractor trailer to NYC with $1.52 in my pocket. I slept the entire way and the driver let me out on Canal Street where I sat all day to look at the different kinds of people. My first job was as a dish washer and I quickly procured a shoe shine box and had a stand on Broadway and Park Row where all the Wall Street executives had their daily shoe shine. There, I met Attorney Cleary who befriended me and I eventually lived with him and his family in Westchester NY. Because I refused to attend school I was instructed to read each evening to read his law briefs and Mrs. Cleary, Professor of European History and Art at Iona College, taught me what she knew in her fields of study.
Having a full knowledge of the cycles of life, and not having a formal education
after the 7th grade I understand the importance of an education for those who are highly intelligent and under served in the educational paradigm. For this reason, I
have dedicated my life to the enrichment of the lives of children. In my own family, my children have all graduated universities such as MIT, Brown, University of Maryland Eastern Shore, University of Savanna etc. Each of these children have made a huge difference in the quality of the lives of people such as developing new energy sources, medical devices, and methods of healing the diseases of the aging; becoming an inner city school teacher; nutritionist for State of NY; Administrator and Custodian at Last
Chance School in the City of NY; retired as NYC Manhattan D.A. Squad Detective with 20 years of serving the Police Commissioner; and the others are also well accomplished.
My most current project is working with those who believe that health and well-being is a fundamental right of humanity. This project is for the creation of the Children’s World
Resort Spa Clinic Teaching Hospital through the Foundation For World Health. I invite you to join me in creating a world class institute where the focus is on the well-being of children and their families.

ARTIST PROMOTER and MANAGER Developed, established, and managed the singing career for Cassandra Wilson managing her during all of her 151+ performance sites in Europe plus numerous American performance sites inclusive of management of image making; financial development; recording performances and recording contracts; radio and television appearances; for one night appearances to large jazz festivals so that she began earning $25,000+ per week -a $20,000 increase in earnings. Also booked and managed her for opening act for MILES DAVIS. Other artists were:

MINI INSTITUTE at CCNY, New York, NY 10031
FOUNDER and DIRECTOR Established and managed all operations inclusive of fund raising of $1.3 million per annum, academic, cultural, and social programming, staffing of 258, financial, and media coverage. The Mini-Institute worked with 532 highly intelligent under-served children ages 6 -12 to improve their Academic and art skills. They developed their cultural and family relationship skills.
GROVNER HOUSE, New York, NY 10002
DIRECTOR Established and managed academic and cultural programs for low-income Hispanics and African American children and their families. Established a Board of Directors of Hispanic and African Americans and raised funds for the programs. Established the Family Service Unit which referred these children to medical treatment centers which revealed the first known case of sickle cell anemia. Provided these children with a two week stay in country family homes (Amish, Mennonites, wealthy families throughout the up-state New York area).

ACTIVIST
● Organized the first drug rehabilitation center in Manhattan Valley
● Vice-Chair of the Peoples Health Counsel supported integration and equal opportunities in housing, employment, education, as well as provided drug. We did this by integrating boards of directors of companies such as YMCA, Grosvenor House, Neighbor Hood Health Services (now the Ryan’s Center), and developed Manhattan Valley Children’s Center. We also set up phone banks to raise funds and create awareness, attended rallies, and provided financial contributions to activists groups throughout the NYC. There was so much we did that to list them here would be cumbersome to both the reader and writer, however here some projects:
